The NFL is back in action, and teams are beginning their journey towards the ultimate goal, a Super Bowl championship. There is a full slate of games in the second week. I will make picks for four of the games, with the Pittsburgh Steelers heading to New England to face the Patriots in the featured game.
Pittsburgh Steelers versus New England Patriots
Despite coming off an opening week loss, the Patriots enter as a 5.5-point home favorite with odds of -245 to +200, with an over/under of 41.5. Over is a 5-star pick at 86 percent even though both teams were involved in games “under” the line in the opener. The Steelers are +18 to +3 on the Power Ranks Indicator and “average” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Pittsburgh has covered in 80 percent of their last five games as underdogs. On the flip side, New England has won four of their last five as favorites. Almost everything in this matchup favors Pittsburgh; however, the Patriots are at home and dropping to 0-2 and creating an early hole is something they desperately want to avoid. Go with Pittsburgh to cover, but the Patriots to win in a game “over” the line.
Cincinnati Bengals versus Houston Texans
The Bengals come in “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator after a 33-27 win in the opener. Houston is “dead” after a 36-31 loss to the Bills. Despite being on opposite ends of the Team Strength Oscillator, Houston enters as a 2.5-point favorite with odds of -150 to +125 with an over/under of 45.5. Both teams were involved in games over the line last week, and betting “over” is a 5-star pick at 95 percent. The Bengals are a 5-star underdog value pick and have covered in four of the last five as an underdog. Cincinnati is +24 to +14 for Houston on the Power Ranks Indicator. I like the Bengals to cover and win in a game “over” the line.
Washington Commanders versus Dallas Cowboys
In this NFC East rivalry, both teams enter off a loss. Dallas is “average down” versus “ice cold down” and Washington is +10 to +7 on the Power Ranks Indicator. The Cowboys are 4.5-point home favorites with odds of -210 to +175 and an “over/under” of 50.5. Both teams were involved in games over the line in week one, and betting “over” is a 5-star pick at 96 percent. Dallas is a 4-star game winner pick, while Washington has covered in 4 of the last 5 as underdogs. Dallas won both games between the teams last year. I like the trend to continue, but for Washington to cover, in a game “over” the line.
Indianapolis Colts versus Kansas City Chiefs
The Colts head to Kansas City coming off a 41-23 loss to the Ravens, while the Chiefs are 1-0 following a 31-10 win over Denver. Kansas City is “ice cold up” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +21 to +8 on the Power Ranks Indicator. Kansas City is a 6.5-point favorite with odds of -300 to +240 and an over/under of 46.5. Betting “under” is a 5-star pick at 96 percent with the teams trending on opposite sides of the line. The Chiefs are a 4-star game winner pick, but the Colts have a 59 percent chance to cover. The ZCode score prediction is the Chiefs by 12 points, but with only 54 percent confidence. I like Kansas City to win and Indianapolis to cover in a game “under” the line.
