MLB Picks September 12: Red Sox and White Sox Headline Play

The MLB season is reaching the home stretch and numerous teams are still in the playoff race. There is a full schedule of games for Sunday, September 12 with the Red Sox and White Sox highlighting the action.

Boston Red Sox versus Chicago White Sox

Both teams enter play second in their respective divisions. The Red Sox have a +13 to +6 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator.  Chris Sale is scheduled to take the mound for the Red Sox and the White Sox haven’t named their starter. Sale is 3-0 with a 2.52 ERA and have been a solid bet at +$112 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The Scores Predictor gives the White Sox a 9-6 win with confidence in the prediction of only 35 percent. The Totals Predictor shows the teams are trending on opposite sides of the line, therefore it’s best to avoid betting on the over/under. Look for Sale to pitch well and the Red Sox to get a road win.

Milwaukee Brewers versus Cleveland Indians

In this battle of the midwest, the NL Central-leading Brewers take on the Indians, also battling for a playoff position. Brandon Woodruff is scheduled to pitch for the Brewers and the Indians haven’t named their starter. Woodruff is 9-8 with a 2.48 ERA and +$345 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. The Brewers are playing excellent ball, coming on at “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator compared to “dead” for the Indians. In addition, Milwaukee has a +20 to +2 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator.  The Scores Predictor is only 34 percent confident in a 6-2 win for the Brewers. I am in agreement with the Scores Predictor. Bet the under and go with the Brewers to win and cover.

San Francisco Giants versus Chicago Cubs

The Giants are battling to fend off the Dodgers in the NL West and the Cubs are fourth in the NL Central. The Cubs are “burning hot” having won eight of their last ten games. The Giants are also “burning hot” and have a +29 to +18 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Totals Predictor shows the teams trending in games on opposite sides of the line. However, the Scores Predictor has the Giants winning by a 10-5 score with a relatively high level of confidence of 69 percent. I am in agreement. Bet “over” with the Giants to continue to roll.

New York Yankees versus New York Mets

In a battle for bragging rights in New York, the slumping Yankees, losers of six straight, face the Mets. Neither team has named their starting pitcher yet. The Mets have a +5 to 0 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator.  The Mets are “average down” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator.  It’s best to avoid the over/under bet since the teams are trending on opposite sides of the line. The Scores Predictor has the Mets winning by a 7-4 margin with only 39 percent confidence. The Yankees need to break out at some time, so go with the Yankees in a road win

Cincinnati Reds versus St. Louis Cardinals

In this NL Central battle, the 2nd place Reds face the 3rd place Cardinals. The Reds have a +19 to +16 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator.  Neither team is playing their best ball lately, coming in at “ice cold down” and “ice cold up”, respectively.  Sonny Gray is set to pitch for the Reds and J.A. Happ will take the ball for the Cardinals. Gray is 7-6 with a 3.88 ERA and +$7 on the Pitcher Profit Oscillator. Happ is 8-8 with a 6.24 ERA and -$247, respectively. The Scores Predictor shows the Cardinals winning by a 7-1 score with 65 percent confidence. The Cardinals and “under” is a smart play in this game.
