ALDS GAME 5 – BALTIMORE ORIOLES AT NEW YORK YANKEES – FREE MLB PICK, FEATURED GAME 10/12
The MLB playoffs featured a new format this year and it likely couldn’t have gone any better for baseball. In six series, there have been six elimination games. The Giants came back from down 2-0 for the first time ever in the National League. Oh, the excitement. Oh, the drama. For all of the thrills of playoff baseball, the Yankees and Orioles have represented one of the most boring playoff series in recent memory. It seems both teams are waiting for a home run to win the series with the short porch in Yankee Stadium.
The New York Yankees are slumping. They’re desperate, and the lineup is ineffective from 2-9 like never before. Well, except for Alex Rodriguez, who is slumping like every playoffs of his career save for 2009. The lineup lacks depth and consistency, and the Yankees are in trouble.
The Baltimore Orioles haven’t hit much either. For all the extra innings excitement, the endless scoreless innings have produced an exhausting ALDS.
Because of how close these games have been, the -220 line places little value on the New York Yankees. Z-Code recognizes that the under has been easy money so far this series, and has moderate confidence that it will hit again. Additionally, because of how close the games have been, Z-Code finds value on the Orioles ML and +1.5, with low confidence.
Many experts within the Z-Code community have picked the Yankees, though, and the community is split. Given the conflicting parameters surrounding this series it is probably best to stay away.
The Yankees have their ace on the mound. CC Sabathia has gone 2-0 over his last three starts with a 1.50 ERA. Given how exhausted both bullpens are, having an ace ready to pitch deep into a game is a huge advantage and fits many winning systems.
CC Sabathia on the mound, Yankees at home, and a lineup filled with superstars due for an explosion all favors the Yankees. Z-Code is on the Orioles +1.5, Experts are on the Yankees, and because of the mixed opinions, it’s probably best just to stay away.
It won’t be pretty, but it’s sure to be a dandy.
