WEEK 13: Player Picks

Screen Shot 2015-10-26 at 6.24.44 PMAlright Guys! We’ve had a couple slow weeks, but we’re still up a solid 11 units and this week looks great. There are a lot of big value players available. We’re going to take some risks with those guys in order to load up on heavy hitters. For example I have a draftkings lineup I’ll be posting tomorrow that includes Brandon Marshall, Julio Jones, Alshon Jeffery, AND Greg Olsen- and on top of that, I feel great about the complimenting value RBs and QB that made that possible.

WEEK 13:

QB:
Ryan Fitzpatrick 7500/5200
Cam Newton 9000/7400
Ryan Tannehill 7300/5300

Ryan- the bearded genius- Fitzpatrick is consistently one of the most undervalued QBs in the NFL. From a fantasy perspective, this guy basically throws for 250 yds and 2 tds every single game. There have been a couple where he’s thrown for 1 td and then last week he threw four. Furthermore, the madman is rushing for 20+ every game too. Fitzpatrick is an 18 point QB with a lot of upside in this game. Brandon Marshall is healthy again as he showed last week with his stellar performance. The run game is getting back on track and Fitz has a matchup against one of the softest pass defenses in the NFL. Eli has been known to put up points, so theres a definitely possibility the Jets end up throwing the ball a lot in this game. I love him this week.

Cam Newton is for some weird reason a really good quarterback despite having a wide receiver corps that isn’t worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin getting it on. Cam has absolutely been crushing it recently and, honestly, anyone can beat the secondary in new orleans. I expect a big showing here. However, I’m not throwing cam in more than a couple lineups for two reasons. 1: he’s expensive and ill be doubling down on him and olsen who is also expensive. 2: the saints are the best terrible team in the NFL. They are truly awful and I hate them. However, once in a blue moon, usually in division games at home, all the drunk people in new orleans gather in the superdome and yell as loud as they can, taking their team of high-school athletes and helping them form the megazord of football teams that is, for about 3 hours, actually good at football. So, with that said, I will never wholeheartedly trust anyone against the Saints in the superdome.

Ryan Tannehill is a mediocre QB with mediocre weapons who has an incredible matchup. The Ravens secondary is essentially the grown up version of the fat kid from little league who would sit down in right field and eat dirt. Start Tannehill.

RB:
Devonta Freeman 9000/8000
Deangelo Williams 7200/5600
Eddie Lacy 6900/5000
CJ Anderson 6800/3500
David Johnson 5900/3400

Devonta Freeman is the best running back in football #riseup and he’s had two weeks to sit back and watch Tevin Coleman fuck everything up. The falcons need a win like nobodys business and the bucs are a prime target to steal one from. Furthermore, all of a sudden, matt ryan is a pretty shitty quarterback so expect the falcons to use the ground game a ton.

Deangelo williams is essentially leveon bell with longer hair and a cheaper price on draftkings. This is super weird considering he’s also the guy who lost a starting job to Jonathan Stewart. However, we can’t argue with his recent track record which is stellar. He has a great matchup against the colts at home so expect big things from him. Note- his value is significantly better on draftkings than fanduel.

Eddie Lacy is one of the best running backs in the NFL on what should be one of the best offenses in the NFL but for some reason he spent all of this year being outplayed by his backup. However, that all changed last week and I believe that Eddie Lacy is here to stay. He had a rough start last year and bounced back and I think this is merely a giant hiccup and were about to see who Eddie Lacy really is. At his price, I’d put him in two roster spots if I could.

CJ Anderson and I have a bit of a rough history and it honestly pains me to put him on this list but I just have to. I’m going to say something that a lot of people will disagree with, but I think the broncos are a better team when Brock Osweiler is under center. Instead of adapting your new head coach’s offense to a degree that it doesn’t function just so your 40 year old QB doesn’t have to take snaps under center because he might break his hip if he had to drop back in the pocket, maybe let the young guy who is actually kind of good and really athletic run the offense you want. The Broncos run game is alive and well with osweiler under center and CJ anderson is flourishing in it. He is sharing 50% of the snaps or so with the likes of ronnie hillman and that platoon makes starting him dangerous. However, in the last few weeks, we have seen that both RBs are capable of having a good game. Wait, theres one other thing. The Broncos are playing the CHARGERS AKA the worst run defense in the NFL AKA the care bears AKA the broncos are going to crush them.

David Johnson is a rookie with a ton of potential who already had an established role in the potent cardinals offense. There’s a decent chance he could have earned the starting role earlier if he didn’t have such an issue with fumbling early in the season. However, Aryians doesn’t have any choice but to give DJ the workload because all his other RBs are hurt. David Johnson was already a TD vulture, and now he’ll be getting all the other snaps too. His price neither reflects his skill set nor his usage. Roll him out.

WR:
Brandon Marshall 8100/7100
Julio Jones 9200/9000
Alshon Jeffery 7700/6900
Antonio Brown 9000/8600
Travis Benjamin 5900/5200
kamar Aiken 6100/4800
Devante Parker 5200/3300

Brandon Marshall AKA the only WR crazy enough to try to lateral the ball in the second quarter because he doesn’t like being tackled AKA Eric Decker’s baby daddy has a sexy matchup against the Giant’s trash secondary. He can easily be the number 1 WR this week but he’s running at about $1500 cheaper than the Julios and Antonios. Roll him out. He’s a monster. Decker has hobbled off to his cave of loneliness like Golem and Marshall will be getting the majority of attention from now on.

Julio Jones is the Greatest WR to ever play the game and theres nothing anyone can say to convince me otherwise. He’s a guy you roll out when you can afford him because he’ll do work for you. This week there are lots of great value plays so you’ll be able to afford him in a lineup or two.

Alshon Jeffery is Brandon Marshall except he catches passes from Jay Cutler. However, he has a great matchup this week against the 49ers who are pretty terrible and he’s basically the only person able to catch a football on his team. Start him.

Antonio Brown has a great matchup against the colts at home and he’s amazing and his qb is pretty good at football despite being a rapist and honestly all signs point to him scoring iike a thousand points the way he always does. Start him where you can afford him.

Here’s the deal with Travis Benjamin. Josh Mccown either hates him or is too old and bad to throw the ball far enough to use him. Johnny Manziel, however, loves him and is a flashy kind of guy so he’s going to throw the ball deep. The thing is, Manziel is actually pretty fucking good at throwing the ball deep and Travis Benjamin is actually pretty fucking good at getting open and catching passes deep. Furthermore, Austin Davis, a QB with something to prove, will continue to use benjamin because he makes him look good and there’s nothing a third string QB wants more than to look good. So, whoever actually ends up starting in Cleveland- its not going to be McCown- travis benjamin’s value will skyrocket. He’s going for chump-change right now and he can easily be a top 5 WR.

Kamar Aiken and Devante Parker are basically the same person for the purposes of this post so ill talk about them together. They are both young, talented receivers who are only on the field because someone got hurt. However, they both also have very good matchups and will get a decent workload. I like taking a chance on them because they have a bunch of upside and a high enough floor- plus they’re cheap as dirt.

TE:
Greg Olsen 6600/6400
Scott Chandler 5300/2500
Delanie Walker 6000/5700

Greg Olsen is arguably now the best TE in the NFL with Gronk out. Not only is he the only viable receiver on the panthers, this week he is facing the Saints secondary which is essentially made up of retired mardi-gras clowns running in circles around each other. I’m kidding- there’s no such thing as mardi gras clowns.

Scott Chandler AKA gronk 2.0 AKA the new number 1 receiver for the patriots AKA who? will probably not be as good as gronk and will probably not get the workload gronk got. However, the patriots receiving corps has been decimated and brandon lafell certainly hasn’t stepped up. So, the pats have no choice. They will be throwing the ball to Chandler. I make no promises as to whether or not he actually catches the ball, but I do believe he’ll get targets. So, at basically the minimum price for a TE, he’s definitely worth a flyer.

Dealing Walker is the best receiver on the Titans and Mariotta is pretty good. Walker is consistent and has a high floor. Start him if you can’t afford olsen but don’t want to take a risk on Chandler.

DST:
NE Patriots 4800/3400
Houston Texans 4900/2500

The patriots have a good defense and are playing at home against a mediocre team. The price is right. Start them.

The Texans are finally starting to look like the stud defense everyone expected them to be. This week they’re playing the highly sackable tyrod taylor. I like their value here. I put them in lineups where Ive been able to absolutely load up elsewhere.
