NFL Picks – Thursday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts at Tennessee Titans
The fact of the matter is that the Indianapolis Colts haven’t been the same team since Reggie Wayne went down. Wayne was Andrew Luck’s top receiver, and the offense hasn’t clicked in his absence. We saw the Colts go from a team playing great football against the best in the league to a team suddenly unable to move the ball. That’s a factor here against a Tennessee Titans defense, at home, on a short week, that is pretty good. The tandem backfield is also missing half of it’s firepower. I don’t trust the Colts to move the ball this week with any confidence. This points to a tight, low scoring game.
I don’t think the Colts defense is very good. They lack lateral speed, which could be something of a problem against the big-play ability of Chris Johnson. I also don’t think the line does a good job of plugging the holes. That said, I expect the Titans to be one-dimensional after watching them try to pass against the lowly Jaguars and fail last week.
For me, this is a good team in the Colts, that are missing so many key guys that their offense is mediocre at best right now. Can they learn to adjust to life without Reggie Wayne? If so, they will dominate this game. The better quarterback and the better game management ability lies with the Colts. On the road, in a short week, that could be a huge factor. The Titans are not a good team and the Colts will need to outwork them and outplay them. If they can move the ball they win. If they grind to a halt and can’t get the passing game going, they lose.
I expect a bigger game out of Andrew Luck, and I’m siding with the Colts. Also, Z-Code agrees with 3.5 star support and a 65% chance of covering the spread, 66% money line. If you waited and can’t get the line at -1 anymore, like myself, then split your bets between -2.5 and money line.
