NFL Picks and Predictions Week Six: New York Giants at Chicago Bears, Thursday Night Football
Is there a team in football right now worse than the Giants? Of course there is – the Jaguars – but after that? The New York media is calling for Tom Coughlin’s head. Eli Manning is having an atrocious season. The wide receivers are banged up, the line is in shambles, and the running game is non-existant. The Giants are in big, big trouble.
The Bears have been much more consistent this year. At Soldier Field, the Giants have their work cut out for them. The Bears offense is clicking, quicker drops have kept Jay Cutler on his feet, and the line looks good in the new system. Defensively, the Bears have been solid. Against New York’s slumping attack I expect a shutdown effort.
7.5 has no real value for me. The computer gives the Bears only a 46% chance to cover. What I like here is a combination of plays to maximize our chances.
I like a seven-point teaser to bring this down to .5. I’m teasing this with the Chiefs and Cowboys in two separate plays. I also like the -6.5 line by buying a 1/2 point earlier in the week. For me, it’s worth getting under that one touchdown cushion.
The Giants could have some fight left in them, but the Bears have a clear edge. Z-Code and I are both on Chicago here.
