Here are my picks for the TE, D/ST, and K position this week:
Week 8:
TE
Eifert 6000/5300
M. Bennett 5700/4900
Barnidge 6300/4700
Tyler Eifert is currently the number 3 TE even with a bye week and week where he got 0 (which I’m willing to rule out as an outlier). Without the outlier, he’s essentially averaging 5 receptions, 70 yds, and over a td per game. That’s 18 points on DK and well worth his price. Furthermore, I look for the Bengals to struggle running the ball against the Steelers and to find themselves in a shootout where they’re forced to score a ton of points to stay alive. I’ll be pairing him with Dalton in a bunch of my lineups.
Barnage and Gates are lower priced options with huge upside. Again monitor Gates’s health because he’s questionable right now. I don’t think the $500-600 disparity between them and Eifert is enough to justify them as a value pick. However, if Gates is active I like pairing him with Rivers and spending extra on AJ green as a receiver.
D/ST
St. Louis Rams 5100/3200
Carolina Panthers 4800/3200
NYJ 4800/2900
New Orleans Saints 4200/2000
The Rams were a huge value pick last week and their price has jumped this week. I still like them against a 49ers team thats struggling to do anything offensively.
I also like the Panthers against the Colts at home. I don’t expect them to put up 20, but I believe they’ll outperform their price.
Some fliers are the Jets against Oakland and the Saints against the Giants at home. I actually really want to go all in and gamble on the Saints. Eli Manning has been shoddy and unpredictable recently and the Saints have come to life in the last few weeks. The superdome is the perfect environment for an Eli Manning meltdown. However, this pick is exactly what I said it was at first- a gamble. Manning has showed glimpses of greatness and the Saints defense is not actually good. If you’re planning on playing in a big tournament I love this play and if you’ve absolutely loaded your lineup with studs and you have no money left it might be worth the risk. I’ll probably have them in a few of my lineups.
