Tomorrow I will post a full recap of my predictions (we did well this week) but I wanted to explain a little bit about valuation today.
Target Points, Individual Player Valuations
Our target points total is 125 for draftkings and 111 for fanduel. On draftkings we’re given a total salary cap of $50,000. Therefore, for each thousand dollars we spend on a player, we would ideally like for that player to score 2.5 points. On FanDuel, the salary cap is $60,000 which means that any player who scores 1.85 (we’ll call it 2) points for every $1000 in his price tag will be likewise considered a success. Players that outscore this margin are considered value players- i.e. we got more than we needed out of them and underpaid for them. So, when we drafted Ryan Fitzpatrick last week for $5200 on draftkings we only needed him to score about 13 points to be considered a value player. Since he scored 19, even though he was outscored by multiple QBs, he was still a high-value pick. Finding players like this who significantly outperform their cost will allow us to splurge on high-priced players who are much less likely to be busts each week. Ideally, all of our players will outperform their value, but well be fine if most do.
So, each week, on Tuesdays once the tournaments have all finished, I will go through each of my player suggestions showing which players outperformed their value and which ones busted.
I will also recap the lineups I posted counting each draftkings lineup at 125 or above as a win and each fan duel lineup at 111 and above as a win.
Later in the week I will post my predictions, lineups, and injured player swaps. Therefore, my posts each week will look like this:
Wednesday:
QBs, RBs, WRs to target
Thursday:
TEs, D/ST, K’s to target
Friday:
Draftkings Lineups
Saturday:
Fanduel Lineups
Sunday:
Last minute swap recommendations for injured/benched players
Tuesday:
Recap, wins/losses, booms/busts for previous week
