MLB Picks and Predictions: Sunday Night Baseball – St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Cubs

This is a very tough game. There’s conflicted Z-Code output, two aces (one far more profitable than the other), No real momentum, an 81% chance of a close game according to the algorithm, and the perceived better team on the road.

THis is a no bet most of the time, but I point to two variables that make this a system play.

First, the pitcher profitability feature of Z-Code shows that in flat better systems, Travis Wood is incredibly unprofitable long-term. If you supported him each time he pitched, you’d be down more than 1,000 dollars with 100 dollar bets. Wainwright on the other hand, is a winner. He’s produced consistent profits for his supporters. He gives the Cardinals the upper hand, though I’m not sure he justifies the line.

Second, the Cardinals are the better team in this rivalry game. Backing their ace, I think they come to play on a national stage.

Z-Code likes the Cubs +1.5 line, and shows 5-star support for under 7 runs. I’m on the Cards ML with moderate confidence. This is a three-star pick with limited line value. A tough game.

Remember, when there’s only one game going, Vegas has the edge and can manipulate the line to control where money goes. Be careful — consider this a Sunday night football game and tread with caution.

Cardinals 4 – Cubs 3
