2015 MLB World Series Predictions: New York Mets vs Kansas City Royals

2015 World Series Prediction: New York Mets vs Kansas City Royals

The New York Mets rotation is one of the best I can ever remember seeing. The Mets have so much young pitching that they were ready to run a guy like Matt Harvey out of town over caution surrounding his surgically-repaired arm. Why? Because they honestly don’t really need him. The Mets have four legitimate aces with Harvey, Jacob DeGrom and the emergence of Syndergaard and Matz.

At the same time, the New York Mets lineup does not impress me. They’ve been hitting – especially Daniel Murphy – but can they keep it up as wintry weather continues to move in and pressure begins to mount?

I think the Mets lineup is less of a decisive issue in this series because the Kansas City Royals’ pitching rotation has gone ice cold. Johnny Cueto was brought in to anchor this rotation and instead has been a tremendous liability. The bullpen is nowhere near as dominant as it was last season during their improbable playoff run. KC’s pitching is average, and their best players are cold.

It is difficult to pick against the Kansas City Royals because they are a scrappy team that can manufacture a lot of runs. They are built on speed, which wins in October. Further, they have home field advantage from the All Star Game and are on a mission after last season fell short. Still, without the pitching to back them, I don’t think the Kansas City Royals can overcome these matchups.

I like every pitching matchup for the Mets in this series. I think the lineups are equally mediocre, but cold arms for the Kansas City Royals are more of a factor than home field.
