Sweden Soccer Saturday: Allsvenskan Preview and Predictions

Sweden is set for another great Saturday of action. The Sweden soccer league, the Allsvenskan, is considered by experts to be the top Nordic league and it rarely disappoints.

The top-flight of Sweden soccer is full of great players and well-round teams. This Saturday, the league will feature three matches all kicking off in the afternoon.

AFC Eskilstuna (6/4) vs. Kalmar FF (17/10)

The league’s two bottom clubs face off with both trying to kick start their seasons. Eskilstuna have given up the most goals (29) thus far and have tallied just four points from a possible 42. Eskilstuna is still winless as well coming into the fixture.

Kalmar isn’t much better and has lost three straight. Some may think a draw is on the cards (12/5), but with the number of goals both have shipped, it looks more likely one team will get the win.

Despite being the league’s worst team, Zcode System’s score predictor believes Eskilstuna will get this right on Saturday with a win. Its 3-0 win scoreline seems quite bold, especially with Eskilstuna only scoring more than one goal one time in its last six games.

GIF Sundsvall (6/5) vs. Halmstads BK (11/5)

Once again, this match will see two teams near the bottom of the Allsvensken table clash on Saturday afternoon. Home team Sundsvall sits 13th and has lost five straight matches. In those five matches, the team has scored just three goals.

Halmstads sit just below Sundsvall in the Allsvenskan table, and the team has drawn their last two fixtures. Current odds see this game finishing as a draw at 12/5.

Halmstads has scored two goals in their last two matches combined, a 1-1 draw with Gothenburg and a 1-1 draw with Elfsborg. Both matches finished with fewer than 2.5 goals. With the lack of scoring Sundsvall brings to the table, I can’t see this match having more than 2.5 goals. Both teams have tallied just 10 total goals all season and neither has much firepower.

Malmo FF (1/2) vs. Sirius (5/1)

The final match on Saturday features top of the Allsvenskan side Malmo taking on third place Sirius. Both teams come into the match in good form and Malmo has won its last four league games. The team has scored seven goals during that stretch. Peruvian midfielder Yotun has been playing very well for the team, scoring twice and assisting two in 12 matches this term.

Malmo is not only the top side in Sweden soccer right now, but the team is the top Swedish club in the Zcode System power rankings. The club is burning hot, which is one reason for the very favorable odds on Saturday.

Sirius is no slouch, however. The team is third in the league and Moses Ogbu leads the team in goals with six; which is good for sixth best in the Allsvenskan.

Malmo will have the edge playing at home. The team has won five of six home matches in 2017. Sirius has been decent on the road, however, winning three times, drawing twice and losing twice.

Zcode System’s scores predictor believes Malmo will win at home, and I agree. But will Malmo be able to shut out Sirius and keep a clean sheet?
