Buffalo Sabres versus Florida Panthers
Buffalo enters with the worst record in the Eastern Conference and the Panthers are battling the Red Wings for third in the Atlantic Division. The Sabres are “ice cold down” and 0 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Florida is “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +12 on the Power Ranking Indicator. They also have a 2-0 season series lead and should have no problems disposing of the Sabres in this game.
Detroit Red Wings versus Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg is looking to push towards the top in the Central Division and the Red Wings are battling for third in the Metropolitan. Detroit handled the Jets easily by a 5-1 score in their first meeting this season on December 5. This time the Jets are at home, where they have been nearly unbeatable. Winnipeg holds a +23 to +6 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average up” versus “ice cold up” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Jets should win this won rather easily to even the season series.
Minnesota Wild versus Colorado Avalanche
A battle between two Central Division teams heading in opposite directions. Colorado is +11 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Minnesota is +24 with a status of “burning hot” with a record of 7-1-2 over the last ten. The teams are deadlocked at one in the season series. Although Minnesota holds the edge on the oscillators, the Avalanche are quite good at home, while the Wild are under .500 on the road. In perhaps a bit of an upset, I see the Avalanche coming away with a victory.
Nashville Predators versus Vancouver Canucks
Nashville enters as the top team in the Central Division and the Canucks are second from the bottom in the Pacific Division. Not a surprise, the Predators have large advantages according to the oscillators, at “burning hot” versus “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +30 to +4 on the Power Ranking Indicator. However, the teams are deadlocked at one in the season series. Despite playing at home, it’s difficult to envision the Canucks staying close to Nashville in this one. The Predators will win by at least two goals.
Ottawa Senators versus Vegas Golden Knights
Vegas enjoys the best record in the NHL and the Senators are trying to avoid the basement in the Atlantic Division. The Golden Knights, who took the first meeting between the teams this season, are +26 on the Power Ranking Indicator, while the Senators are 0. Vegas is 6-3-1 over their last ten and are “average up” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “ice cold down” for Ottawa. At tied for eighth in Team Volatility, this does not bode well for the Senators as a road underdog. Vegas should roll in this one.
Columbus Blue Jackets versus Anaheim Ducks
Columbus is fifth in the Metropolitan Division while the Ducks are bunched with three other teams in the middle of the playoff race in the Pacific Division. Anaheim has the advantage in the Power Ranking Indicator (+19 to +10) and on the Team Strength Oscillator (average versus ice cold down). Although Columbus won the first meeting between the teams, they are tied for tenth in Team Volatility. What should be a closely fought battle, the Ducks likely will come on top in this one.
