NBA Predictions

Detroit Pistons vs. Charlotte Hornets

Both the Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets are chasing the Eastern Conference playoffs eighth spot. The Pistons’ acquisition of Blake Griffin was quite the coup. Whether it gets the team into the playoffs is another question. Griffin is the team’s leading scorer with 20.4 ppg. Since joining Detroit, the team has won six of nine games. The Pistons have played the Hornets twice this season, losing once and winning once. The team now have Griffin and should be stronger than in those last two meetings.

Prediction: Detroit Pistons

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks are 19-10 at home. The team has played its best basketball in front of its home crowds. The New Orleans Pelicans occupy the final playoff place in the Western Conference. The Pelicans are actually better on the road than at home (16-14). New Orleans is currently on a three game winning streak going into the weekend and should  prevail in Milwaukee. If New Orleans can stop Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks should be shut down for good.

Prediction: New Orleans Pelicans

San Antonio Spurs vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have turned it up after making their blockbuster trade deadline day moves. The team has strengthened its hold on third in the Eastern Conference. The Cavs are 20-8 at home. The team’s home play has kept it near the top of the conference. San Antonio Spurs’ road record has been abysmal. The team is under .500 and the Cavs should go on to win another home game.

Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Washington Wizards

The seventh place Philadelphia 76ers head to fourth place Washington Wizards in a potential Eastern Conference playoff meeting. The 76ers have won six straight games going into the weekend and Ben Simmons and company are the hottest team in the NBA. Washington has defeated Philadelphia two out of three times already this season. Washington should end the 76ers’ win steak if it is still intact on Sunday.

Prediction: Washington Wizards

Houston Rockets vs. Denver Nuggets

The NBA’s top scorer, James Harden, leads the Houston Rockets into Denver to take on a strong Nuggets team. The Nuggets are 23-7 at home and will be a difficult team for the Rockets to beat. The good news for Houston is the team has won 10 consecutive games heading into the weekend and top the Western Conference. Houston averages the most points of any team in the Association (114.1). On the road, the Rockets are 21-7. Despite the Nuggets great play at home, the Rockets should still be too good for Denver.

Prediction: Houston Rockets
