MLS Midweek Match Predictions Wednesday June 21st

MLS Midweek Match Predictions Wednesday June 21st fire               Major League Soccer is back with some midweek action to satisfy the hunger of hardcore soccer fans and bettors alike. Four matches will take place Wednesday night as teams hit the halfway mark on the season. Thus far, Toronto FC and Chicago Fire have been the best in MLS, but getting through the regular season in one piece is just part of the difficulties in winning the league’s title. DC United vs. Atlanta United DC United host expansion team Atlanta United, but by the way the two teams are playing, you wouldn’t believe that DC has been in the league since it began in 1996. DC United has the second worst points total (14) in MLS after 15 games. The black and red have the fewest goals in the league (10), and have won just once in the team’s last five games. Atlanta comes into the match after picking up a win versus Columbus Crew at the weekend. The team is scoring freely, and has tallied the most goals in all of MLS (31). According to the ZCode Power Rankings Indicator, Atlanta is a +7, while DC United is a +4 ahead of this match. Despite their difference in play, DC is playing at home in midweek and that could offset any advantage Atlanta has. Result: DC United won the last time these two sides met on April 30th. That match was played in Atlanta, but since then, DC has won just once in seven games. Expect this game to finish with an Atlanta win or draw. Minnesota United vs. Portland Timbers Portland started the season as MLS’s best team, and beat Minnesota in their first game of the year, 5-1. Since mid-April, Portland has been very inconsistent, winning just three times in the team’s last 10 matches. Minnesota has given up the second most goals in MLS with 34, and at one time looked likely of setting new records for having the worst defense. Things have gotten better, but the team is still a struggling expansion side. ZCode Power Rankings Indicator lists Portland at +19, and it is hard to believe Minnesota can walk away with a win. Result: Portland should win or draw in this match. Colorado vs. Los Angeles Galaxy After a slow start to the season, the Colorado Rapids have come on of late. The Rapids have now won three matches in a row, and are just four points back of the last playoff spot. The Galaxy are unbeaten in their last seven, and are coming off of two straight draws. This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. Both teams are solid defensively, but the Galaxy have the edge in scoring. Colorado ranks just above DC United for scoring the fewest goals in MLS. Result: This game has draw written all over it. However, the Galaxy have the most points in the Western Conference on the road this season (13). Play it safe with an LA win or draw. Seattle Sounders vs. Orland City Orlando make the massive journey from the American southeast to the Pacific Northwest to take on Seattle on Wednesday night. Orlando has been inconsistent after starting the season well, meanwhile Seattle has played slightly better of late, winning three of its last five games. The two sides haven’t met this season, and Seattle goes into the fixture as massive favorites at 11/20 according to Bet365. The Sounders have won their last three home matches, and Orlando haven’t won on the road in five of its last six. The Florida-based franchise has secured just four points from a possible 18 on the road in 2017, tied for fourth fewest in the league. Result: With Seattle playing so well at home, the Sounders should get their fourth straight home win on Wednesday night.
