The MLB season is underway and Thursday will mean it is one week old. Some big divisional games are due up this week, so don’t miss out on ZCode System’s MLB predictions.

Thursday April 5th

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals

The New York Mets will send Jacob deGrom to the hill against Washington Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg. After four games, the Nationals are a perfect 4-0. The Mets started off well by beating the St. Louis Cardinals in two straight before losing the rubber match up. Many baseball insiders believe these two clubs will contend for the National League East title. However, the Mets need to improve quickly if Mickey Callaway’s team want to be considered as good as the Nationals.

Both deGrom and Strasburg won their first starts of the season. Thursday’s game will start off the teams’ three-game series in Washington. If the Nationals sweep the first series of the season, it will be a difficult task for the Mets to overhaul them for the NL East.

Prediction: Washington

Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles have started the season slowly, winning just once in their first three-game series. The New York Yankees split a four-game set with the Toronto Blue Jays. Any idea of the high octane Yankees winning the American League East in the opening month of the season is out the window.

The Yankees will have arch-rival Baltimore at home for the weekend series. Although the Yankees started just 2-2, Giancarlo Staton did his part for New York. After four games, Staton has hit two home runs and tallied four RBIs.

Prediction: New York

Friday April 6th

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants

The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their first two games of the season to the San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers did win the third and forth games of the opening series. The two California rivals will clash again Friday night in San Francisco.

The Dodgers have scored scored 21 runs this season already. The Dodgers are averaging 4.2 runs a game. The Giants have relied on pitching so far, and in recording two wins, San Francisco has scored a mere two runs this season. It could be a long season for San Francisco in the runs department.

Prediction: LA Dodgers

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers

Marco Estrada will take the hill for the Toronto Blue Jays while the Texas Rangers will send Matt Moore out. The Rangers already find themselves three games out of first place in the AL West. The Blue Jays have won three games straight as of this blog. Of course, Toronto will start well, but fall off as the season continues. For now, Toronto should continue its good play, especially against the Rangers.

The Blue Jays average 3.8 runs per game. The Rangers give up 5.0 runs per game. Rangers’ pitcher Moore has already recorded a 9.00 ERA.

Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays
