MLB Picks: Texas Rangers at New York Yankees

MLB Picks: Texas Rangers at New York Yankees

I still view the Yankees as a liability right now. They’ve suffered key injuries in a rotation that was supposed to be anchored in experience and deep. The lineup is old and fragile, and nobody is really performing how they are supposed to.

That said, guys like Carlos Beltran are starting to get hot and consistent veteran players like Derek Jeter and Ichiro have steadied the storm. This is a crucial stretch for the Yankees, not just this week but going forward. Young arms have filled the holes left by the big-name pitchers with injuries, and they’ve done very well. This is what Yankee baseball was at its finest, and if they can make a push they may be able to turn things around and make the postseason. Despite all these injuries, the AL East is up for grabs.

The Texas Rangers are one of the most disappointing teams in baseball this year. It may be time for a change. They continue to lose. I don’t trust either team right now, but given the choice between these two I pick the Yankees every time.

The computer agrees, offering 4 1/2 stars of value and a 61% chance to win. We’re on this one together, although the computer has far more confidence than I do. I’m hoping to see the Yankees relevant in the second half. It starts with series like this one.

Yankees 6 – Rangers 4
