The English Premier League is famous for its holiday soccer. While the other leagues around the globe take a break for Christmas, the English Premier League gives its fans soccer action throughout the holiday period.
The holiday soccer extravaganza kicks off on Friday night with Arsenal and Liverpool, and continues through Christmas Eve. The games take a day off on Christmas before picking back up on Boxing Day.
With the weekend nearing, let’s look at the top three matches for bettors this Premier League holiday soccer weekend.
Arsenal vs. Liverpool
Fifth place Arsenal take on fourth place Liverpool in a match between two sides fighting to finish in the top four. Liverpool defeated Arsenal in August when these two side met last. The contest finished 4-0 to the Reds, but Arsenal have improved since.
The two sides have both given up 20 goals, which is joint most of the top seven teams in the Premier League. Liverpool’s attack is scoring freely, but the Reds need to shore up it’s back line to win again. It’s the same old problem for Jurgen Klopp. The good news is Liverpool have the best goal scorer in the league. Mohamed Salah has 14 goals this term. He has been the most dangerous player for Liverpool. If he doesn’t score goals, Salah can open up scoring opportunities for others.
ZCode System’s scores predictor has Arsenal set for a 3-0 win. That is a score I cannot agree with one bit. This game will be far closer with, perhaps, a score draw.
Everton vs. Chelsea
Everton have really turned its season around since changing managers in November. The club’s leading scorer Wayne Rooney (10 goals) has been in good form since manager Sam Allardyce took over the team.
Chelsea have been having troubles of late. Manager Antonio Conte continues to see headlines about his job being in danger. Meanwhile, the team has disappointed many this season already. Last year’s Premier League winner, Chelsea is already out of the running for the title this season unless something historical happens.
ZCode System’s score predictor has Chelsea slated as the winner, 3-1. Chelsea won the last meeting between the two teams in August, 2-0. However, the Blues top striker Alvaro Morata is suspended for this match up.
Manchester United vs. Leicester
Manchester United is coming off of a midweek loss to Bristol City in the League Cup. It seems to be one set back after another for Jose Mourinho’s team. The manager continues to be called defensive and fans are questioning whether Mourinho is invested in the club long-term.
Leicester is coming off of a loss last weekend. However, the team had just recently made a significant turnaround. Leading goal scorer Jamie Vardy has been in good form. He has seven goals this term. However, the likes of Riyad Mahrez have fallen off severely since the team won the Premier League 18 months ago.
ZCode System’s scores predictor has Manchester United as the heavy winner, 3-0. Once again, I don’t agree with the prediction as Leicester’s form of late has been good enough to see this finish closer. Manchester United won’t lose at home, however.
