NHL Predictions November 16: Can Boston continue their surge in the Atlantic Division?

Heading past the mid point of November, there are several interesting games on top for Friday, November 16.Can Boston continue their climb in the Atlantic Division against Dallas? This is just one of five games we’ll take a closer look at. Note that all information is for games played through November 12.

Boston Bruins versus Dallas Stars

Boston has been playing very well lately, winners of six of their last ten and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Stars have lost their last two and are “ice cold down” . In the first meeting between the teams, the Bruins edged Dallas by the score of 2-1. Boston is tied for the most stable team in the NHL according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. Dallas is 6-3-1 at home, while the Bruins are 3-3 on the road. In what should be a tight contest, give the Stars the edge at home. Look for a one goal victory.

Los Angeles Kings versus Chicago Blackhawks

Neither team has bee playing well, however Chicago is on a completely downward spiral, losers of their last eight. They are +1 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Kings are also +1 and “average down” and have a 5-10-1 record. The Kings are just 1-5 on the road and Chicago is 3-3-2 at home. The Blackhawks won two of the three meetings between the teams last season and should be home favorites. Consider that an the Kings are one of the most stable teams in the league bodes well for betting on Chicago. the Blackhawks will end their skid, edging the Kings

Washington Capitals versus Colorado Avalanche

Washington is near the bottom of the Metropolitan Division, while Colorado looks to move to the middle of the pack in the Central Division. Washington has a +14 to +10 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator, while both teams have been trending on the low side at “ice cold down” versus “dead up”. The teams split the two meetings last season and I see just a small edge for Colorado in this one, defending home ice. In a game that could go into overtime, I look for the Avalanche to go one-up in the season series between these teams.

St. Louis Blues versus Vegas Golden Knights

The Blues one the first game between these teams this season by a 5-3 score on November 1. They are the second most unstable team, so take lightly their favorite/underdog status in this one. Vegas continues to struggle, losers of their last two and are “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. St. Louis remains last in their division but are “average” and playing .500 hockey. Certainly not a lock pick, but the edge goes to the Blues. I see a one or two goal victory on the road in this one.

Toronto Maple Leafs versus Anaheim Ducks

Trying to keep pace with Tampa Bay in the Atlantic Division, the Maple Leafs enter with a +26 to +12 advantage over Anaheim on the Power Ranking Indicator. They also took both meetings between the teams last season. Neither team has been trending well lately, at “average down” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Ducks are a solid 5-3-3 at home, but the Maple Leafs are excellent on the road, having won six of seven games. I think they will make it seven of eight, winning on the road in a relatively hard fought contest.
