There are fewer than 37 days until the World Cup 2018 in Russia. The tournament will kickoff on June 14 and run until July 15. The high-quality soccer will give bettors plenty of great chances to wager on the most watched sporting event in the world. Brazil is a five-time World Cup champion and go into this year’s event with the best odds. Brazil finished fourth at the 2014 tournament after its star player Neymar exited the event in the quarterfinals due to injury.
Brazil has the talent to win the tournament although the defense may not be as good as other nations. The biggest dilemma that Brazil coach Tite has currently is Neymar. The forward has been injured since February and only recently returned to training. He won’t play a competitive club match before the tournament. His fitness will be a question.

Germany is the reigning World Cup champions. The Germans were methodical and precise in winning the tournament in 2014 and little has changed for Joachim Low’s team since then. The squad is full of high-quality stars, but which player will start at striker in the first game is up for debate. Veteran Mario Gomez will compete with youngster Timo Werner for the No. 9 shirt and whichever player gets the nod could dictate just how far the Germans go.
Germany is also unsure of whether star center-back Jerome Boateng will be fit and ready for the tournament. Boateng suffered a thigh muscle injury in April and it is unknown if he will be recovered in time. If he misses the tournament, it will be one the biggest blows of any team at the World Cup.
Spain +600
Spain may be the dark horse of the World Cup 2018. The team won the 2010 tournament with a golden generation of players. However, 2014 saw the nation eliminated in the group stages. Spain has a veteran core of players including center-backs Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique. Yet, Spain also has young, exciting superstars like Marco Asensio and Isco filling out the squad
Manager Julen Lopetegui hasn’t lost a competitive match since taking over the team in 2016. Spain will be a difficult side to beat.
France +650
France is another of the top four sides going to Russia that has an unbelievable ensemble of talent. The French have a solid goalkeeper in Hugo Lloris, stout defenders in Raphael Varane, creative midfielders Paul Pogba and Adrien Rabiot and brilliant goal scorers in Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud. The team is strong from front to back and will be difficult for any side to break through.
France may have the most complete team and the squad made it to the Euro 2016 final with mostly the same players. Unfortunately, it always seems like something stops the French from winning a major tournament.
This summer will mark the 20th anniversary of France’s one and only World Cup win from 1998.
