2015-16 MLB Preseason Picks: AL Central Predictions – Royals, Tigers

2015-16 MLB Predictions: AL Central Picks – Royals, Tigers, Twins It’s easy to ignore the chaos that consumed the AL Central last year and look only at the Kansas City Royals and their success. The Royals were projected by many, myself included, to take a step back last year. They did not. More surprisingly, the Minnesota Twins finished above .500, the Detroit Tigers tanked, and the full mediocrity of this division was absolutely astonishing. This year, who will emerge?

1. Kansas City Royals (90-72): It’s hard to put your finger on the Kansas City Royals. They have serviceable, young pitching  ...

MLB Picks Contest ($100 Prize): Royals Tigers

Ventura and Sanchez are both having miserable years with ERAs approaching five. Sanchez, as a veteran, has never been this poor. Ventura, as an upstart young pitcher, is supposed to be doing more than this. Ultimately, either pitcher can implode, which is why I like this as a contest game so much.

The Detroit Tigers are having a disappointing year and sold off their ace, but I still think it’s too early to count this lineup out of the playoff race. The Kansas City Royals got better at the deadline and seem poised for a return to the playoffs despite a confusing offseason where they failed to add the right pieces by most accounts. Still, an active deadline has them poised to make a run at another World Series.

So, who ya got? As always, simply comment on this post to participate.

Congratulations to our few winners who got a very sloppy match between the Dbacks and Brewers right. We  ...

MLB Picks: David Price, Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins

MLB Picks: Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins I don’t usually challenge the computer on a flat bat situation, but we’re going to go forward with this play despite the minimal signal from the computer and the apparent underdog value in the line.

First, I believe in David Price. I think a power pitcher in this situation is going to have a field day. The Minnesota Twins don’t hit and they certainly don’t hit shutdown pitching. The Detroit Tigers have won a couple in a row and are starting to surge. I see the Twins playing better baseball, but this is the class of the AL Central division and I think even the home field edge will not be enough to overcome David Price and the mighty Detroit Tigers.

Second, this fits my system. I certainly prefer situations where I can press a statistical advantage and use progressions, but I do not like the way pitching shakes out the rest of  ...

Free MLB Picks Contest ($200 in Facebook Prizes): Detroit Tigers at Pittsburgh Pirates

MLB Picks Contest ($150, $50 Prizes): First Round, Detroit Tigers at Pittsburgh Pirates

Tuesday, August 12th

This is the first round of our next MLB Picks Contest, featuring a $150 prize to the first participant to reach ten wins and a $50 prize for the person who gets there second. The contest is free to join, simply comment on this post to participate.

The Tigers and Pirates are two evenly matched teams with similar records. It’s an inter league game, which always adds a little volatility to the matchup. Further, if the Tigers do have a slight roster edge, it’s mitigated by having to travel to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates on their home turf. Get used to it, most of the games we feature will be very difficult, just like this.

Feel free to comment on this post to participate. Free money is the best kind of money, isn’t it?

Good luck to all our participants in this round  ...

MLB Picks: Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox Progression Opportunity

MLB Picks: Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox progression opportunity

There is great value here after a loss in Game One. The Tigers have the face of their rotation going and look to bounce back from a sloppy loss. They’re the better team and this line isn’t too bad. I like them here.

In my view, we’ve got a statistical edge here expecting the White Sox to not be able to sweep a team as deep and talented as the Tigers. Detroit has another pitching edge in this game, and I think they should be able to rally.

The computer doesn’t  ...

2014 MLB Predictions: American League Edition – Yankees, Rangers, Tigers

2014 MLB Predictions – American League: The New York Yankees Are Back

I love baseball season, and last season was the most profitable across any sport in my professional handicapping career. I can’t express how excited we are for the season to start, but to help build anticipation we’ll be posting daily preseason predictions. This post and the next will break down the American and National League. The following post will outline our basic strategy. We’ll have predictions and progressions, and I’ll try to share some of my private forum from the VIP Club where applicable. Cheers

AL East

1. New York Yankees (92-70): The Yankees are back… well, sort of. Questions abound with Tex, Pineda, and Jeter recovering from injuries that caused fully lost seasons, but I think the Yankees have gotten substantially better. The outfield might be the best in baseball, and if Jeter and Tex are healthy the infield is serviceable. McCann is the upgrade at catcher  ...

World Series Predictions: Game One Tigers Vs Giants Pick

MLB Featured Game – WORLD SERIES GAME ONE – Detroit Tigers at San Francisco Giants

Justin Verlander Vs Barry Zito

Unfortunately, the first sign on this game is to stay away. Conflicting parameters are always a sign to reduce bet size or avoid a wager completely. Z-Code gives underdog value to the Giants, but assigns a higher likelihood of victory to the Detroit Tigers. I completely agree.

The Giants have all the momentum in the world. For the second time this postseason, they came back from the dead to steal a series. Down 2-0, they knocked off the  ...
