Premier League Predictions December 2: Derby Day in England

Sunday will see three fiery English soccer derbies take place across the country. Fulham will travel to Chelsea in the West London Derby, Arsenal will host Tottenham in the North London Derby, and Liverpool will welcome Everton for the Merseyside Derby.

It will be a big day of soccer with each game possibly having title implications. Depending on results, league leaders Manchester City could be the biggest winners. The Cityzens play at home against Bournemouth on Saturday and will be able to sit back and watch the results roll in. By Sunay night, Manchester City’s lead at the top of the table could be much larger.

Firmino-5

Chelsea vs. Fulham

Chelsea goes into the weekend seven points behind Manchester City. The Blues are winless in their last two matches, drawing nil-nil with Everton before losing 3-1 to Tottenham last weekend. Chelsea was played off the pitch by Tottenham, and Maurizio Sarri needs his stars to step up against Fulham.

Fulham is at the bottom of the Premier League table, but the Cottagers could be ready to break out. New manager Claudio Ranieri won his Fulham debut last weekend against Southampton, 3-2. Although he hasn’t got the team’s defensive problems worked out, he was able to get two of Fulham’s attacking stars — Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrovic — to fire.

Chelsea are undefeated against Fulham in their last six meetings. The Blues have outscored Fulham 10-3 during that timespan. Zcode System’s scores predictor is a bit generous to Chelsea. Although the Blues will win, it may not be by such a large margain.

Arsenal vs. Tottenham

Arsenal and Tottenham should be a great game to watch for neutrals. Both sides will want to attack the other. Arsenal are undefeated in their last 11 Premier League games. Meanwhile, Tottenham have won three straight and sit three points ahead of Arsenal. Spurs are just five points off of Manchester City and need a win to keep pace.

Arsenal have won just once in their last six meetings with Tottenham. That win did come last season at the Emirates. Tottenham have tallied two wins in the team’s last six games, including last season’s game at home.

Sunday’s game is difficult to call. Both are playing well, but Spurs will have one extra day of rest going into the game. Arsenal play Thursday night in Ukraine in the Europa League. The travel and one day less of rest could give Tottenham the upperhand.

ZCode System’s scores predictor has generously predicted a 3-0 Arsenal win. Only one of the last six games between Arsenal and Tottenham has seen over 2.5 goals. That came in 2016 at Tottenham. Expect a close affair ending in a draw.

Liverpool vs. Everton

Liverpool are one of two teams that haven’t tasted defeat this season. The Reds sit two points behind Manchester City and must win to keep pace with their rivals. Everton won’t be a pushover. The Toffees go into Sunday undefeated in their last three games.

Liverpool have plenty of form going into the game. The Reds haven’t lost to Everton in their last six games, with four of those games ending in wins. Liverpool hasn’t lost in the Premier League at home in its last 27 games. Ten of Liverpool’s last 11 home matches have ended in clean sheets. Yes, Liverpool is playing great, but the team is coming off of a Wednesday night loss in the Champions League. It could affect Liverpool when Everton arrive at Anfield.

Three of the last four games between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield have seen over 2.5 goals. Liverpool have the firepower to put the ball in the back of the net. But expect a cagey game with a goal separating these two and not a 4-0 win for Liverpool. The Reds will win again, but in a close affair.
