NHL Playoffs Picks: Caps Flyers Game Six

NHL Picks: Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers Game 6

The Philadelphia Flyers changed goalies, and it has given them a bit of a boost. The Flyers still aren’t scoring, but they’ve started to shut down the best offense in the conference. Here, however, after two big wins, I expect the Flyers to fall to the Washington Capitals at last. We continue our progression wager here, and we bet Washington to cover the last two losses.

It’s so difficult to beat the same team three and four times in a row. It is especially difficult when that team is the best team in the East. The Washington Capitals continue to get strong goaltending from Braden Holtby. The difference is that suddenly this Alexander Ovechkin offense has stumbled. Surprise, surprise, Ovi’s team has disappeared momentarily in the playoffs, but never fear. The odds remain stacked in our favor, and there’s good value here on the road.

I trust the better team to finally play like the better team again. The Flyers lack the defense necessary to consistently shut down the Caps Sure, it’s been an impressive couple games. Still, I think the Washington Capitals will get this done on the road and avoid a winner-take-all Game Seven.

In Game Six, the computer has backed off from its support as line movement favors the Flyers. That is not a concern to me, however. I expect another tight game, but I expect talent to prevail. I’ll take the 57% ML odds the computer gives the Caps, and play the odds on the series here.
