NFL Predictions: Week 7

Heading past the middle of October and it’s not too early to begin positioning for a post season run. Check out some of the more intriguing match ups of the week.

New England Patriots versus Chicago Bears

New England enters 4-2 and winners of their last three, while the Bears are 3-2 after losing last week. The Patriots hold a +27 to +25 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average down” status. The teams haven’t met since 2014 and New England is a 3.5 point road favorite. As is generally the case, after a slow start the Patriots have found their stride. Look for a relatively easy win and cover for New England.

Dallas Cowboys versus Washington Redskins

In this classic NFC East showdown, the 3-2 Redskins host the 3-3 Cowboys. Both teams are coming off wins. Washington is a 1.5 point home favorite, however they are the fifth most unstable team in the league, so betting based off their favorite/underdog status should be done with caution. Both teams are “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Cowboys won both meetings last season, but are 0-3 in road games this season. In a close game, look for the Redskins to maintain home field advantage and win the game.

Los Angeles Rams versus San Francisco 49ers

What once was a terrific NFC West battle, this is a game of two teams heading in opposite directions. The Rams are 6-0 and “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator, while the 49ers are 1-5 and “dead”.  Los Angeles won as a road favorite last year and will again this time around. The spread is a large 10.5, but as good as the Rams have been this season, likely will cover that, even on the road.

Minnesota Vikings versus New York Jets

In a close match up record wise, the 3-2-1 Vikings take on the 3-3 Jets. Minnesota is a 3 point favorite, however they are the 7th most unstable team in the league according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Jets are the fourth most stable, however, which means they regularly win as favorites and lose as underdogs. Look for the trend to continue, as the Vikings steal one on the road.

New Orleans Saints versus Baltimore Ravens

The Saints enter winners of four straight and are +40 in point differential, while the Ravens are 4-2 and +76 in point differential.  New Orleans is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator and the Ravens are “average up”. Baltimore comes in as 2.5 point favorites and are undefeated at home. They narrowly escaped the Browns last week, but I see an upset in the making in this one. Go with the Saints to cover and win outright on the road.

Tennessee Titans versus Los Angeles Chargers

The Titans and the Chargers meet for the first time since 2016 when the Chargers won as home favorites. They are again favorites, this time by 6.5 points. The Titans are the ninth most unstable team in the league, so do not take too make consideration to their favorite/underdog status.  Los Angeles is “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator versus “average down” for the Titans.  The Chargers will likely stay hot and win their fourth straight and cover.
