NFL Picks: Week 13

Minnesota Vikings versus Atlanta Falcons

The Vikings are one of the hottest teams in the league at 9-2. They take on the 7-4 Falcons who come in as a 3-point home favorite. Minnesota won the last meeting between the teams in 2015. Minnesota holds the edge on the Power Ranking Indicator at +29 to +23 and are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator, holding a decided +28 to +2.9 advantage. The Falcons have won their last three, but the Vikings are on a seven-game run. Hard to bet against Minnesota at this point, picking them as the road dog.

Houston Texans versus Tennessee Titans

Tennessee holds a clear advantage in the second meeting between the teams this year. Houston won in blowout fashion on October 1 as a road underdog, but likely wont have the same fate this time around. The Texans are “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and are +7 on the Power Ranking Indicator, compared to +21 for the Titans. Tennessee is tied for 10th in Team Volatility and as a 7-point home favorite bodes well. I see the Titans taking this one, improving to 8-4 on the season.

Kansas City Chiefs versus New York Jets

Although the Chiefs have lost five of their last six games, they come in as a 4.5-point road favorite over the 4-7 Jets. To further show the problems of the Jets, they are -7.06 and declining on the Team Strength Oscillator and +6 and rapidly declining on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Chiefs have clearly been declining on both Oscillators now, but should turn things around this week against the Jets. I pick the Chiefs to win and cover.

Los Angeles Rams versus Arizona Cardinals

After falling to he Vikings in a clear step up in competition, the Rams proved they are for real in defeating the Saints last week. At 8-3, they are a 6-point road favorite against the Cardinals. The Rams won the first meeting between the teams as a home favorite on October 22. With a clear +24 to +13 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and +0.78 to -5.14 on the Team Strength Oscillator, the Rams should win this and likely cover.

Carolina Panthers versus New Orleans Saints

In perhaps the best match up of the week, the 8-3 Panthers head to New Orleans to take on the 8-3 Saints. Although falling to the Rams last week, the Saints have won 8 of their last 9 and area a 3.5-point favorite. New Orleans won as a road underdog on September 24 and are tied for first in Team Volatility. The Saints also hold a +30 to +25 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. The home field and Team Volatility status sways my pick for the Saints, who will improve to 9-3.

Pittsburgh Steelers versus Cincinnati Bengals

The Steelers have somewhat quietly tied the Patriots for the top record in the AFC, while the Bengals are looking to improve to .500. There’s little to make me think the Bengals can win this. They are -14.48 on the Team Strength Oscillator and +11 to +27 for the Steelers on the Power Ranking Indicator. Pittsburgh won as a home favorite on October 22 and are a touchdown favorite in this one. The Steelers will take this rather easily for their 10th win of the season.
