NFL Picks: AFC and NFC Championship

NFC Championship: Minnesota Vikings versus Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles held off the Falcons on a last minute defensive stand, while the Vikings stunned the Saints with a last second touchdown. The Vikings come in as 3-point road favorites. They hold a slight +30 to +29 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and are “burning hot” versus “average” on the Team Strength Oscillator, however the Eagles hold a +7.03 to +4.84 numerical edge on that oscillator. The Vikings are first in points allowed and tenth in points scored, while the Eagles are third in points scored and fourth in points allowed.  A big edge for the Eagles is home field advantage. They are 8-1 this season at home, with the only loss coming in the meaningless season finale. Minnesota is just 3-2 on the road on grass surface this season.  The Eagles have lost just once since Carson Wentz went down. Nick Foles has played well in the playoffs. The hunch is he will play well enough again and the Eagles defense will do enough for the Eagles to advance to the Super Bowl.

AFC Championship: Jacksonville Jaguars versus New England Patriots

Jacksonville shocked the Steelers in the divisional round, while the Patriots cruised past the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars ranked second in fewest points allowed and fifth in points scored, while the Patriots are fifth in points allowed and second in scoring. New England holds a +31 to +25 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. They are also +7.38 and “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator, while the Jaguars are “average up”.  The Patriots are also tied for seventh in Team Volatility and are an 8-point favorite. There is little to suggest the Jaguars can repeat their performance against Pittsburgh. Don’t bet against Tom Brady and the Patriots. They will advance to the Super Bowl and cover the spread.
