NBA Predictions: October 26

The NBA has tipped off for the 2018-2019 season. A week in, here are some of the match ups for Friday, October 26. Note that all information is for games played through October 22.

Golden State Warriors versus New York Knicks

The Warriors are off to a 3-1 start, while the Knicks are scuffling at 1-3. Golden State holds a +28 to +6 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” for the Knicks. The Warriors have dominated between the teams, winning the last seven contests. Make that eight after this one. Golden State will win easily, perhaps by double digits.

Chicago Bulls versus Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte comes in at .500 after their first four games, while the Bulls are looking for their first win. Charlotte has a +13 to +5 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and are “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Charlotte won the last meeting on October 8 by the score of 110-104 as home favorite. Look for much of the same this time around. The Bulls will continue to look for their first win.

Dallas Mavericks versus Toronto Raptors

The Raptors are off to the best record in the NBA at 4-0, while the Mavericks come in winners of two straight and 2-1 for the season. Toronto has a decided advantage on both the Power Ranking Indicator and Team Strength Oscillator. There is little to think the Mavericks can stay with the Raptors, who have won five of the last six meetings between the teams. Go with the Raptors in a comfortable win.

Milwaukee Bucks versus Minnesota Timberwolves

Milwaukee is 3-0 in the early going, while Minnesota is 2-2. The Bucks have a +19 to +10 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and won the last two meetings on October 7 and October 12 of this year.  The Timberwolves have won both their home games this year, while the Bucks have won their only contest on the road. In what should be a tight game, I go with the home court and Minnesota to hand Milwaukee their first loss this season.

Brooklyn Nets versus New Orleans Pelicans

Brooklyn is out of the gate 1-2 with both losses coming on the road. New Orleans has won their only two games by a wide 19.5 point per game margin. They have a +18 to +8 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and have won the last two meetings as favorites at home and on the road. The Nets can stay close for a while, but look for the Pelicans to pull away later in the game.

Washington Wizards versus Sacramento Kings

In a battle between two 1-2 teams, the Wizards hold a +11 to +2 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average down” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. Washington has won their only road game and have taken the last four meetings between the teams. The Wizards should have enough to make it five straight and will win in a close game.
