NBA Predictions February 8: Will 76ers get back on track against Denver?

The NBA is nearing the All-Star break and teams will soon be making serious pushes for playoff positioning. The Nuggets versus the 76ers highlight the games on Friday. Note that all information is for games played through February 5.

Denver Nuggets versus Philadelphia 76ers

The Denver Nuggets come in near the top of the Western Conference and 14-12 on the road. After defeating the Golden State Warriors, the 76ers have dropped their last two, but are still 21-6 at home. Denver won as home favorite in the first meeting between the teams and have a +29 to +25 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator. The Nuggets are “burning hot” on the Team Strength Oscillator, while Philadelphia is “average”. Both teams are relatively stable according to the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Sixers look to keep pace with Boston and Indiana in the middle of the playoff race and will get back on track at home and edge the Nuggets. This should be the best game of the day.

Milwaukee Bucks versus Dallas Mavericks

Milwaukee holds the top spot in the Eastern Conference and are 17-9 on the road heading into Dallas. The Mavericks are horrible on the road, but a very good 18-7 at home. Milwaukee won the first meeting this season between the teams and have a +28 to +11 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. They are also “burning hot” versus “average up” status. Both teams are stable at +22 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. The Bucks will likely be slight road favorites and should come away with a win in a close battle.

Golden State Warriors versus Phoenix Suns

The Warriors are battling the Nuggets for honors in the Western Conference, while the Suns are bringing up the rear. Golden Stats is 18-8 on the road compared to 7-21 at home for the Suns. Both teams are very stable, which bodes well for betting on the Warriors as a road favorite. The Warriors took the first two meeting between the teams this season and have a +26 to +1 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator. Golden State will win and likely in a blowout.

Minnesota Timberwolves versus New Orleans Pelicans

The Timberwolves and Pelicans are both on the outside of the playoff picture looking in. Minnesota holds a +16 to +5 advantage on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average down” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. However, Minnesota is a very poor 8-18 on the road, while New Orleans is 15-10 at home. The Timberwolves have won two of three between the teams this season, home teams wining every game. That trend will continue. Pick the Pelicans in this one.

Miami Heat versus Sacramento Kings

The Heat hold the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and enter the game 13-11 on the road. Sacramento is 17-10 at home and are “burning hot” versus “ice cold down” on the Team Strength Oscillator and +19 to +9 on the Power Ranking Indicator. Miami is not very stable, so proceed with caution if considering betting according to their favorite/underdog status. The Kings one on the road in their first meeting and will take the season series with a home win in this one.
