NBA Predictions February 14: Oklahoma City versus New Orleans game of the day

With the All-Star break this weekend, the NBA has a light schedule for Thursday, February 14. The Oklahoma City Thunder look to keep pace with Denver and Golden State in the Western Conference in a game against the Pelicans. Two other games are scheduled. Note that all information is for games players through February 12.

Charlotte Hornets versus Orlando Magic

Charlotte enters at 27-29, seventh in the Eastern Conference. They are just 8-20 on the road and 5-5 over their last ten. Orlando is 10th in the conference but have won their last four and are 15-15 at home. The Magic hold a +15 to +14 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot” versus “average down” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Hornets have taken both games between the teams this season. They are also much more stable, at +21 versus +10 on the Team Volatility Oscillator. This further leans the bet towards Orlando, as they will be the favorites. Look for the Magic to increase their winning streak.

New York Knicks versus Atlanta Hawks

The Knicks have lost their last 17 and are 6-24 on the road. They take on an Atlanta team that is 19-38 and just 9-16 at home. The Knicks have won two of the three games between the teams this season. Atlanta has a +3 to +1 edge on the Power Ranking Indicator and “average” versus “dead” on the Team Strength Oscillator. The Knicks are one of the most stable teams in the league, meaning they perform generally as their favorite/underdog status indicates. Atlanta will win this one, as the Knicks continue to slide.

Oklahoma City Thunder versus New Orleans Pelicans

Oklahoma City is 37-19 and 9-1 over their last ten. They are +25 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “burning hot”. The Pelicans come in having lost seven of their last ten and are 25-33 on the season. They are +6 on the Power Ranking Indicator and “ice cold down”. Both teams are showing stability, at +20 for the Pelicans and +16 for the Thunder on the Team Volatility Oscillator. Oklahoma City has taken two of the three meetings between the teams this season and should make it three out of four after this one.
