MLB Picks: Colorado Rockies at Arizona Diamondbacks

I know that the Arizona Diamondbacks have not gotten the pitching they expected when they acquired two top of the rotation pitchers in Shelby Miller and Zack Greinke. That said, those two guys form the back end of this ABC progression prediction because, eventually, at some point, at home, against a bad team, you’re going to have to be able to trust them if the Arizona Diamondbacks are going to compete this year.

I’ve still got the Diamondbacks winning the division. They can hit, the pitching will come around, and the NL West is weak. The Giants have pitching but don’t hit. The Padres have name recognition but don’t win. The Dodgers still can’t seem to put it all together and took a step back in the offseason. This is the Diamondbacks’ division to lose.

Enter the Colorado Rockies, who have seen their shortstop phenom stumble to a batting average below .250 and their lineup be exposed for lacking any real depth. The rotation, as always, is in shambles because nobody wants to pitch in Colorado. This is going to be a long year for the Rockies again.

As such, this seems like a nice time for a progression wager with the two best Diamondbacks pitchers up next after a high-value first game.

The computer agrees, giving a 4.5 star pick to the home team, with an 80% likelihood of victory and predicting a blowout victory. I’m not quite as confident, but I do like the Dbacks here.
