It’s STILL Bowl Season!

WisconsinCheerleader550

We went 1-1-1 on Friday to bring our Bowl record to 6-4-1. Let’s find a few winners for Saturday.

Saturday, Dec. 30
TaxSlayer Bowl
Mississippi State vs. Louisville (-7) | O/U: 63

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson leads a potent offense against a Mississippi State team that has lost their star quarterback and head coach. MSU ‘s defense is good enough to hold Louisville down for a little while but eventually I think this could turn into a high scoring game. Louisville’s defense can be exploited both running and passing so I expect freshman quarterback Keytaon Thompson to eventually do some damage. While I like MSU plus the points, let’s take the Total Over 63.

Saturday, Dec. 30
Liberty Bowl
Memphis (-4) vs. Iowa State | O/U: 66

This could be another high scoring game as Iowa State gets the unfortunate task of playing Memphis in the Tiger’s home stadium. Iowa State is an underrated team that I would usually like as an underdog but this is a tough spot against a team playing in their home bowl game for the first time since the bowl’s inception (1959). Memphis can put up points in a hurry and, while I think Iowa State’s defense is solid, they will eventually have to try and keep up. Let’s take the Total Over 66.

Saturday, Dec. 30
Fiesta Bowl
Penn State (-3) vs. Washington | O/U: 54

Penn State, led by running back Saquon Barkley, got a lot of the headlines this season but Washington quietly put together a nice season after a playoff run last year. Washington’s defense is built to slow down a running back like Barkley and that will put a lot of pressure on quarterback Trace McSorley to make throws. I think Washington can cause problems with their defense and their offense is balanced enough to keep this close. Let’s take Washington +3.

Saturday, Dec. 30
Orange Bowl
Miami vs. Wisconsin (-6) | O/U: 45

Miami started the season strong but ended it terribly and this is just a bad match up for them. While the Hurricanes do get to play at home, Wisconsin presents problems on both sides of the ball. Miami’s one chance to steal a win would be to force turnovers but Wisconsin’s ground heavy attack should limit those opportunities. While I do think Wisconsin will win, this line has drifted out a little too far for my taste so I will be passing.
